This summer has been a season of remarkable achievements for our GASC swimmers, with outstanding performances at both the European Aquatic Masters meet in Belgrade and the Scottish Summer Meet. Let's dive into the highlights of their incredible journey!

European Aquatic Masters Meet - Belgrade 2024 💥

We are thrilled to congratulate Scott on his phenomenal performance at the European Aquatic Masters meet in Belgrade! Competing against some of the best swimmers in Europe, Scott made us all extremely proud with his exceptional results:

200 Backcrawl: 3rd place 🥉
200 IM: 5th place
50 Back: 4th place

Scottish Summer Meet Highlights

Our swimmers showed immense skill and determination at the Scottish Summer Meet, achieving numerous personal bests and podium finishes across various events.

Day 1 saw Ella, Amelia, and Amy excel in the 1500m freestyle, with all three shaving significant time off their personal bests. Ella finished 4th overall, while Amelia and Amy placed 5th in their age groups. Well done, girls! 💪

Day 2 continued the success with standout performances, including:

Brogan: Double Scottish Summer Champion in the 100m Breaststroke and 200 IM 🥇🥇
Ella: 6th in the 400m Freestyle
Alex: 6th in the 400m Freestyle, 5th in the 50m Freestyle
David: 5th in the 50m Freestyle, 4th in the 100m Breaststroke
Sylvie, Amelia, Maisie, Eilidh, Miller: All posted impressive times in the 100m Breaststroke

Day 3 brought even more excitement and medals:

Ella: 4th in the 800m Freestyle
Amelia: 3rd in the 800m Freestyle 🥉
Amy: 5th in the 800m Freestyle
Alex: 3rd in the 200m Freestyle 🥉
Brogan: 2nd in the 100m Backstroke 🥈
Amelia, Brogan: First and second in the 200m Breaststroke, respectively 🥇🥈

Day 4 was the grand finale, with our swimmers giving their all:

Brogan: Gold in the 400 IM 🥇 and Silver in both the 100m Butterfly and 100m Freestyle 🥈🥈
Alex: 4th in the 100m Butterfly
Amelia: 4th in the 200m Backstroke
Eevie: 6th in the 200m Backstroke

Following the success of our interview with Masters swimmer Scott Mitchell before Christmas, we are delighted that our next instalment of Swimming for Glenrothes will be available shortly. The subject this time is Paul Noble. Paul, whose only club was Glenrothes ASC, competed in five successive Paralympic Games between Los Angeles in 1984 and Sydney in 2000, winning a total of 15 Paralympic medals, including four golds.
